Summary of Enviornmental Refugees Unable to Return Home

Summary of Environmental Refugees Unable to Return Home

In “Environmental Refugees Unable to Return Home,” Joanna Kakissis shows that some people cannot go back to their hometowns because of natural disasters. Because of that, those people lost everything and must move to another big city. In addition, the moves to Dhake from Bangladesh generally become permanent due to the lack of resources in their original cities that are vulnerable because of global warming. Even in Dhaka, some of those people’s situations are still poor because they live in tents near rivers where the crime is normal. Bangladesh also tries to find other opportunities in other cities. Furthermore, many international organizations try to help those people. These refugees report that they really want to back their home even though it seems to be no hope in their hometowns and they don’t have money to do that.
People’s attitudes toward climate change is the key responsibility for those people who are suffering due to climate change. In the future, human beings should pay more attention toward global warming because anyone could be the next victim of natural disasters.
