Should Mobile Devices be Banned in Classroom

Various technologies and the internet have become ubiquitous. The development of mobile technology also has been quite mature now. Therefore, many people use mobile devices every day for daily chores. Even students bring their cell phones, tablets, and laptops to school and classes. Even though mobile devices bring benefits to education, they also bring some challenge to education. Therefore, whether mobile devices should be used in classrooms become a controvertible topic now. Some people think that mobile devices bring benefit to students, but some people think them negatively influence students’ learning. Even though adversaries allege that mobile devices should be used in classrooms, mobile devices should be banned in classrooms because they influence teaching efficiency and quality; they bring negative influence to students’ learning; using mobile devices still has some limitation.

First, because using mobile devices in classrooms brings negative influence to teachers’ teaching, mobile devices should be banned in classrooms. If all students use mobile devices in classrooms, teachers need to take more time to check how students use mobile. For example, because all mobile devices can install various entertainment softwares like social media, game, and video. Students are easily attracted by these softwares. During class, teachers need to improve their teaching quality, and they need to make sure that students understand what they are taught. Therefore, teachers need to constantly remind the distracted students. If all students use mobile devices, they will increase more chances of distractions in classrooms. Therefore, teachers must take more time to check whether students use mobile devices for entertainment. Thus, the teachers’ teaching quality will decrease, and this method reduced teacher’s teaching efficiency. Moreover, when mobile devices are allowed in classrooms, if mobile devices produce sound and vibration, they will affect the classroom atmosphere. For any instructor, interrupted thinking is so terrible. All mobile devices inevitably produce sound, even though these mobile devices have vibrational functions because their vibrational still cause sound in quiet classrooms. The noise of mobile devices will interrupt teachers’ logic. As a result, teachers need more time to maintain order and restore their thinking. In “Is Mobile Technology in the Classroom a Helpful Tool or a Distraction? A report of University Students’ Attitudes, Usage Practices, and Suggestions for Policies” Lorraine D. Jackson (2013) claims that not only notice like vibration, ringing, and notification caused by smartphone will cause the distraction, but also students tend to check their mobile devices frequently (p. 2). Furthermore, because teachers’ teaching is a process of communication, students having verbal respond or making eye contact with teachers can improve teachers’ mood. Therefore, teachers who are high spirits will be organized and clear, and they can use their passion to improve learning and teaching atmosphere in class efficiently. If students using mobile devices in classrooms, teachers’ mood will be influenced. Their passions are weakened because many students only focus on their mobile devices but not teachers and class materials. The result is that both quality and efficiency of teaching will decline. Students using mobile devices in classrooms not only influence teaching efficiency and quality but also bring negative influence to students’ learning.

Next, mobile devices should be banned in classrooms, because using mobile devices will influence efficiency and quality of students’ learning. It is hard to imagine what happens if every student uses mobile devices in classrooms because it is harmful to students’ learning. If mobile devices are common in class, users will rely heavily on the search function of the mobile devices. Because students can...........

Finally, the last reason that mobile devices should not be used in classrooms is the limitation of their usage.

Counter-arguments:

However, some people argue that students should use mobile devices in classrooms. They allege that using mobile devices can easily take notes and students would not miss any part of the lecture. This is true. Nevertheless, because using mobile devices to take notes is quick and instant without thinking and organizing, the students cannot remember the notes deeply. In contrast, the students who use pens to write down the notes need to understand and think about how to organize the information. This process helps the students to have a better memory about the notes and class materials. According to " The Pen Is Mightier Than the Keyboard: Advantages of Longhand Over Laptop Note Taking," Pam A. Mueller and Daniel M. Oppenheimer discover that using the pen to take notes results in having better remember than using laptops (p. 4). Therefore, students still should use traditional methods to take notes.

Summary and References

Some people think that PEDs should be used; however, others claim that all PEDs should be banned. In competition stipulate, PEDs did not violate the rules of the stadium. According to Mounk, (2016) “Performance- enhancing substance does not make sense” (para2). Human need power which from food and water, and this behavior is same like to taking PEDs because the athletes can get some energy from these things. It proved that the PEDs are same with food and water, and they belong to the same category. However, this does not mean that PEDs should be allowed. On the contrary, “Most of these drugs are not innocuous; they have side effects, many of them serious and irreversible.” (Catlin, 2012, para.4) Because of the reason, some people think that PEDs should be banned. The side effects of the PEDs are terrible and irreversible; even some athletes take too much to die. It is so dangerous and difficult to control. People should think more about this problem.

The Experience of Foreigners in Backward Countries

If some people who have the high standard of living to go to a country with lower economic, maybe they feel uncomfortable in the environment of living, salary, and communal facilities. First, they may not fit the new natural environment of the lower economic countries because the developing countries and backward countries usually have a terrible natural environment. Because the backward countries need to develop themselves, they will choose to develop some heavy industries. The heavy industries bring lots of pollution to the country, and the sky of the country become terrible. Because of that, many foreign visitors who just got off the plane are unable to accept such the natural environment. Face a dangerous and new environment, the foreign visitors possibly get sick. They must think it is ridiculous, but that is the truth. Also, the workers who come from the high standard of living country maybe also cannot accept just a little bit salary. Because developing countries and backward countries do not have a strong economic foundation, their companies will not pay more money for their workers. For example, when foreign workers cannot earn more money than their own country, they are going to have lots of pressure. The situation makes them don’t have the confidence to live here. Moreover, the communal facilities also cannot be accepted by foreigners because the backward countries do not have the developed public service. For example, if a foreign visitor forgets to bring their phone, they cannot even find a public telephone. Imperfect public facilities make them feel disappointed. In summary, people in developed countries do not have a good experience in backward countries because they cannot accept the backward life.
Even though backward countries cannot give the foreign good feeling, they can give people some enlightenment. The experience in backward countries can let people know that they should cherish the happy life now. Many countries still are suffering poor, so if they can help others, please help others. Only if all countries get developing, the human can develop.

Should goverments help refugees?

Rich governments should not support environmental refugees without people’s authorization because of all the money from people. The governments have the right to organize donation activity, but the decision should on their own people. The destruction of the environment will lead to refugees, it is a problem all over the world, their numbers are too large, and they will continue to increase. Kakissis(2010) explains, “At least 12 million people live in Dhaka, and there are more than 400,000 newcomers each year” (para.8). This is shows there are more refugees, and the government of the world cannot help all refugees. People should decide whether to help the refugees, not governments because it is no end to this kind of help, and use the people’s money. Moreover, governments and people should recognize the source of the problem. Money is limited, and fixing the environment can solve a lot of problems. however, people need to decide to give limited money to refugees or to restore the environment. For example, “Since 1987, Arctic sea ice area has shrunk by some 9 percent per decade and has thinned as well” (Handwerk,2004, para.5). Environmental problems are the problems of the world, and It affects more than one country. People should decide that which one is the most important that fixing the environment or saving the refugees, I believe that Democracy is a good way. In addition, people can set up the voluntary organization to help refugees, government and school can also promote such the activities. For instance, in my country China, every school has donated activities in every year, and it is people volunteered, not enforced because some families are poor. In conclusion, people have right to decide to help refugees or not because the money of government comes from the people. It is the responsibility of government to build the country and safeguard it, if it is the donation, the people have right to vote.

Summary of Enviornmental Refugees Unable to Return Home

Summary of Environmental Refugees Unable to Return Home

In “Environmental Refugees Unable to Return Home,” Joanna Kakissis shows that some people cannot go back to their hometowns because of natural disasters. Because of that, those people lost everything and must move to another big city. In addition, the moves to Dhake from Bangladesh generally become permanent due to the lack of resources in their original cities that are vulnerable because of global warming. Even in Dhaka, some of those people’s situations are still poor because they live in tents near rivers where the crime is normal. Bangladesh also tries to find other opportunities in other cities. Furthermore, many international organizations try to help those people. These refugees report that they really want to back their home even though it seems to be no hope in their hometowns and they don’t have money to do that.
People’s attitudes toward climate change is the key responsibility for those people who are suffering due to climate change. In the future, human beings should pay more attention toward global warming because anyone could be the next victim of natural disasters.

Response of  Innovations for the Developing World

One point that the author mentions clean water that Kamen plans to do. This is significant because he invented the most convenient water purifier, and he solved the problem of dirty water. The most important is that he brought a new era to people. First, Kamen’s water purifier was more simple than large power plant and water works. His invention was not only convenient but also saved money. Next, any water, even sewage, could become to drinking water because of the machine. The machine increased the drinking water production, and it solved the problem which was that people lack water. Finally, the invention needs some entrepreneur to operate. When some entrepreneur invests the equipment, they could provide lots of labor post, and they solved the unemployment problem. In conclusion, the Kamen’s water purifier solved many problems which include making drinking water, saving money, and providing jobs. In my opinion, the invention is very important to the development of human, and a perfect invention can change the world. People should improve their children’s creativity in the future education.
